BIRMINGHAM
Another spot on the itinerary was Birmingham, AL. While in Birmingham, we attended a church service at the 16th Street Baptist Church, stumbled upon a Bernie Sanders campaign rally, and visited the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. The 16th Street Baptist Church was the church in which four little girls were bombed by the Ku Klux Klan in 1963, just one month after King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. The pastor at the church was friendly, and we were warmly welcomed with well-wishes and glorious music.
