Meet Ms. Wanda, the inspirational guide at Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church in Montgomery
By TJ
On the seventh- and eighth-grade class trip to the Deep South, while we were in Montgomery we met Miss Wanda at the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church. She is a parishioner at the Dexter Avenue Church, and she leads the tours there. She loved to sing and dance, and we spent most of the tour singing and dancing with her. She is a very outgoing person and gave us all energy after a tiring day. She was also very knowledgeable about what happened during the Civil Rights Movement and was able to provide us with a lot of knowledge. One example of this knowledge is that Dr. King was the 20th pastor at the Dexter Avenue Church and that Dexter Avenue was the only church he pastored at. She very much believes that all people deserve the best treatment possible, and I believe this is something that more people should believe in. I believe Miss Wanda left an indelible impact on all of our lives, encouraging us to be happier and nicer.
